herb marinated rack of lamb

papa and I both have a crave for lamb, this is a great recipe for home cooking because it seems so advanced when in actually it's very simple.....

recipe: 1 lamb rack, 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus 2 tablespoons, 4 crushed garlic gloves, 2 crushed rosemary sprigs, 6 thyme sprigs, ground black pepper, sea salt.
mix together the olive oil, crushed garlic, crushed rosemary and thyme sprigs in a large bowl. add the lamb and coat well. grind some black pepper over all. wrap well and marinate for a few hours.
preheat the oven 200C. heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, season the lamb with salt, sear fat side down until golden, turn over so that the fat side is up and roast in preheated oven for 20 mins. let the rack rest for 10 mins before cutting.

aiden loves this homemade mushroom soup~
recipe: 1 onion, 480g mushrooms (sliced), 2 cups of water, 1 cup of chicken stock, 325ml of cream, butter and salt.
heat 1 tbsp of butter in a pan, use low heat to stir fry the chopped onion until soft. add mushrooms, stir fry briefly, then add water and chicken stock, boil for 15 mins, season with salt. when it's cool enough to handle, blend the soup till smooth, reheat the soup and stir in cream, serve with olive oil on top.

cut each lamb rack into 1 bone per chop and serve with mashed potato and asparagus.
my maid found aiden was holding his little guitar sitting next to the piano when i was preparing dinner.....what a great entertainer den den.....mama wishes to see you playing a real guitar one day.........

petit bazzar

a few months ago, i discovered this little kid's boutique on gough street in central. the two-story boutique is filled with fairy tales like french items, from beddings to toys, lightings to rugs, mobiles and baby fashion. as soon as I walked in, I knew i will be coming back again and again! i love the interior designs, the use of colors and stylish displays, i do feel like as if i'm shopping in paris everytime when i'm in this store.

handmade soft toys, mobiles, bumpers and more....
too many things to look at....
i've got my eyes on this vintage tricycle and the handmade birdcage lamp....

aiden thought that was his buddy bear at home...

congratulations to you again, mrs. sousi!
it's great that you opened a store like this in hong kong and sharing with us your taste! see you again soon.

little crafts

we spent some quiet time doing paper crafts today, truly beautiful time....

i've got this paper crafts book from muji a while ago,
i love the idea that each capital letter in the book can be turned into an animal.
it is a great and fun way to teach aiden about animals.

letter M turned into a mouse!

simple instruction.....

letter D became a dog

letter z made into a zebra!

a glimpse on wu guanzhong's donations

we had finally managed to visit wu's exhibition in the Hong Kong Museum of Arts....
here're the pictures taken by my iphone, hope the photo quality is not too bad to view.

Two swallows 1981 Ink and colour on paper
"Across the painting surface, the whitewashed wall dominates like an immaculate princess dressed in white. The black doors and window stand out, cutting up the wall into novel planes that rejuvenate the old looks. In essence, the East and the West are no different aesthetically. Despite the absence of swallows, Mondrian would have been impressed by the minimalist oriental dwellings.” Wu Guanzhong

Bitter melon homestead 1998 Oil on canvas
"The bitter melon plant bears bitter melon fruits. This is blood. This is destiny. Time and again, halos and wreaths, they are the fruits of nothing but bitterness. Bitter melons are not bitter since, as I have inscribed, I have fully tasted the bitterest of the bitterest."
Wu Guanzhong

the old street where my grandparents used to live and run a family sized printing company some 60 years ago...
i used to think it's a big street, but it seems narrow and short now....
no doubt, the best sweet tofu i have ever had.....

an old neighborhood noodle shop where my grandparents used to take me to....
tasty traditional handmade wonton noodles,
taste still the same,
it brings back so much memories........
