the oscillating woodpecker

learning at home is an important part of growing imaginations, recently i have found a blog by joel henriques. joel is an art and toy designer, there he posts lots of projects, usually handmade toys and crafts that he makes for his kids. i am quite fascinated to see his creative and fun ideas. aiden has always loved bird, so i thought it would be fun to follow joel's instruction to make this woodpecker. there's a template and instructions in his blog to help you make your own, it is simple and easy to put together, if you want to make one yourself, you can follow the simple steps below:
1. click on the template in joel's blog, print and cut it out.

2. take a plastic straw and cut off one inch, then tape it in between the bird halves

3. apply glue or tape to the rest of the bird and fold in half, sticking both sides together

4. next, cut a thin rubber band and thread it through the straw, now start pecking!
